2017 Scrapbook Album Flip-Thru

Sunday 13 August 2017
Hi there! Recently in the Simple Scrapper Facebook Group, we were chatting about layouts that aren't currently in albums. I have a ton. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen my Insta stories about where they currently reside.

I made some headway with this project last weekend. I sorted out all of the 2017 projects and put them in their own album. Finally! An album to hold in my hands. This weekend, I shot a flip thru of the album. Here's me taking you through it and chatting along the way!

Star Veneer Birthday Card

Friday 11 August 2017

Elle gets me every time with her awesome use of color! I had so much pairing a navy, blue, green, lime and orange color scheme with an awesomely neutral Wood Veneer Pocket Filler card. On the blog today, I'm sharing this card, Jill's sharing a layout and Laura a few pocket page filler cards using the veneer. "By the Numbers" Pocket Page

Thursday 10 August 2017

Y'all! This page....has my heart! I love how it turned out! I snuck a shot of this on my Instagram when the Stanley Number Stamp launched. Originally it was a 12x12 layout that I was struggling to find a place to put my photo on. It's not often that I do that, start with the design and then add the photo. But since I wanted the stats to be the focus, that's how it happened.

When I went to finish it, I just couldn't find a place where I liked the photo placement. So I decided to turn this into a two page spread. Originally, I printed a 12x12 photo to pair beside it. But that didn't look right either! And then I struck on an idea...what if I trimmed the 12x12 to 9x12 and paired it with a 9x12 pocket? Problem solved!

As I mentioned, I wanted the stats to be the focus. I used the Stanley Alphabet Stamp-Solid and Stanley Number Stamp to add that all in. This stripped paper from the Live Laugh Love Paper Collection is the perfect size for those stamps!!

The die cuts were odds and ends from my ES stash. And I used the Live Laugh Love Enamel Dots & Wood Veneer. Plus a Cork Tag from the July release.

For the pocket page, I went really simple: a black and white photo from each year back to 2009 and one of the awesome Wood Veneer Pocket Fillers available this month. Since this was a numbers themed page, I stamped directly onto the wood using the Stanley Numbers Stamp, which includes both the solid and the outline! I even stitched a die cut from the August Monthly Kit, to the bottom of the card, then added a few pieces from the So Awesome Puffy Sticker sheet and one small heart from this months Heart Circle Acrylics.

I love mixing color with black and white. So this spread makes me really happy!

"Shake Shack" Memory Traveler's Notebook

I'm so behind on the decorating part of my 2017 Memory Notebook! But at least I'm caught up on the writing side, which honestly is the harder part. This is my Week 20 spread. I made it within an hour of receiving my August Elle's Studio box! It was just so fun and also slightly food themed, which is perfect since this week was about my first visit to Shake Shack here in Houston.

I used the August Monthly Kit, So Awesome Puffy Stickers, Yes to This Stamp, Sky Blue Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Dated Stamp and Live Laugh Love 12x12 Paper Collection. That's a lot for one little page!

It was a lot of layering using the 3x4 journaling cards in the kit plus the die cuts and puffy stickers. I love that Elle's products are sized small enough for Traveler's Notebooks as well as pocket pages and scrapbook layouts!

Elle's Studio August 2017 Release

It's Elle's Studio Release Day! Hooray for new scrappy goodies =D I made two projects for this month's release. Click each photo to find out more about that project.

If the last two month's kits are any indication, these are going to go fast! Both June and July have sold out. Today, since it's release day, the monthly kit is only $9.99. After it's $11.99 until they're gone.

As always, there are a bunch of awesome extras to purchase alongside your kits. In these two projects I used the Wood Veneer Pocket Fillers, Stanley Stamp Alphabet-SolidStanley Stamp Alphabet-OutlineStanley Number Stamp, and the So Awesome Puffy Stickers. If you're a monthly kit subscriber, you have a 24 hour bundling window to add more items to your order if you'd like. Also if you're a subscriber you get access to special sales. You might consider it if you are loving all the things as much as I am lately!

Pre-Trip Travel Scrapbook

Wednesday 9 August 2017

Have you ever been so excited about a trip that you can't wait to scrapbook it?! That's how I feel about the upcoming Scrap Gals Nashville Retreat!! I'm so excited I've already started my scrapbook.

I used the Vicki Boutin Mixed Media Junque Journal as the base for this mini. I love that it came with four sections. I've decided that the first section will be everything leading up to the trip and the other three sections will be each day.

I also love that it's a ring binder. It will be so easy to add things in: ephemera, photos, more pages, etc. I've shared more words about this project over on the American Crafts blog. Head to this post to read more: Custom Travel Binder.

Bullet Journal: Week of July 24

Hey hey! I'm back this week sharing another bujo weekly spread. I love the colors in this one so much. But I think I say that every week. As usual, I created a process video of how it all came together.

Here are the still images of the completed pages. You'll notice I added some Vicki Boutin washi tape to the spread after I finished filming. I love the extra color it adds!

Monthly Photo Baby Scrapbook

Saturday 5 August 2017

I love making paper gifts for my friends and family! As a baby shower gift, I created this mini album for my cousin who is about to have her first baby. My mom and I collaborated on her gift. Basically, we put together a starter kit for her to be able to take a monthly photo of her little one. My mom purchased a soft blanket for little Jack to lay on and also a stuffed monkey to lay next to him to track his growth. And I bought a package of monthly stickers to add to his clothes and also took over on the album side. All my cousin has to do is take a monthly photo, print it out and slip it into the album. I wanted this to be as simple as possible for her! I hear new mothers have plenty to do ;)

Of course, I made a card to go along with the gift. I used scraps (of my scraps), some letter stickers and die cut "baby" out of white cardstock using this cut file. I wrote out a little note inside and also included a type explanation to the gift so she'd know what everything was used for! The arrow paper clip held it inside the card. For the envelope, I used my stamps (including my favorite Stanley Alpha) and several colors of ink to add his name.

I had so much fun adding his name! I used scraps (of my scraps) and die cut his name using my Silhouette Cameo. I outlined the letters to give them extra definition, added a few punched stars and a brad and button. The final touches were dropping gold mist and sewing around the edge.

The album itself is a 4x6 Simple Stories one which I'm totally in love with and want tons more! I had no idea they even made this size. It came with a variety of page protectors but I only used the full 4x6 ones. (I had to buy a few extra packs).

The format for the album was super simple. Photo on one side and decorated card where she can add the date on the other side. I loved this circle number cut file and cut all of them out of white textured cardstock.

To decorate the cards I used the same format for each: a circle number backed by patterned paper + pinked punched circle + button + date stamp + gold mist droplets. It was so simple to hammer these out!

The majority of the paper was pulled from my scrap box. I think I only had to cut into 2 new sheets of patterned paper because I wanted more blues. I also didn't want this to become an all blue project so I made sure to include greens, browns, grays, black & white with pops of orange.

The album itself only took a few hours to complete. And I love how it turned out!
