Bullet Journal: Week of July 17

Sunday 30 July 2017

Hiya! I'm back with another bullet journal process video! These have been so much fun to put together. Mainly because I'm loving my bullet journal so much.

For this page I turned to my planner stamp collection (because at this point it is a collection). Here are links to a few of the stamps I used (some of these are no longer available or came with specific classes):

When it comes to inks and pens, here's what I use time and time again:

"Favorite Moment" Scrapbook Layout

Tuesday 25 July 2017

Have y'all seen the new Title Builder products from Elle's Studio?! They're pretty friggin awesome IMO! I had so much fun playing with the stamp set and creating my own text based pattern.

This page is all about my love for Saturday mornings. It's family snuggle time in bed. It's the rare time when both the dog and cat will crawl into bed with us.

I used one of my go-to designs to put this page together. This is the 3rd time I've used it and I have to say I love it a ton! Here's a link to the last page I created using this design: My People [Hint: There's even a process video there about the last one!]

Bullet Journal: Week of July 10

Saturday 22 July 2017
Hiya! Back with another weekly spread for this weekend's bullet journal bonanza! This was a fun summery spread to put together. And I went a bit out there and added a transparency for some added interest. I went with my go-to's: stamping, highlighting, adding stickers and bits and bobs. I pulled from Studio Calico's Film Club, Homespun, Jolly Holiday, Pool Party and Savannah planner kits.

I filmed my process and thought I would try the time-lapse feature on my iPhone. It didn't work quite like I expected and I'll be honest, I'm not really happy with the result. I ended up slowing that part of the video down because everything was moving too fast. But I tried it! And I still wanted to share the video with you. Normally, I add voice over but since this was moving to fast I didn't think it would be helpful. Not to worry, for my Week of July 17 spread, I filmed it in real time. But that's a video for another day!

Cheers & Besos,

Bullet Journal: Week of July 03

Hiya! Welcome back to my bullet journal weekend extravaganza! Today I'm sharing my weekly spread for July 03-July 09. I'm so loving how these are coming together. This was a special week for me because it was the first week I started working at BMC Software!
I got me a new set of planner stamps, the Everyday set from Me and My Big Ideas (aka Happy Planner brand). So I played with those along with my planner stamp stash.
This week's color scheme is pink, teal, and yellow with pops of olive green, reds and oranges. It's a happy set of colors and I like the variety.
As usual, I don't like to plan too far ahead. Really just the next two days. The rebel in my tends to rebel against my own plans even! So I have to keep it fresh. Brain tricks!
Tomorrow I'm sharing another process video. This one is a time lapse of how I put together my Week of July 10 spread. Be sure to check back for that!

Bullet Journal: 2017 Approach

Thursday 20 July 2017
Y'all, I am so excited about my bullet journal! If you follow me on Instagram (@jamie_makes) you will have seen my first spread of 2017. It had me giddy with excitement and totally in love with this format so I'm diving in full force. As one does when it comes to paper projects!

BUT, I'm not doing it the same way I use to. You can read more about my traditional approach to bullet journaling from these 2015/2016 blog posts. But I've switched things up in a major way.

I've started making monthly notebooks!!

I am in love with this format and this project. It has been so much fun to get back into. Every Sunday I've been sitting down and setting up my weekly spreads. But this time, instead of re-inventing the wheel or rather, drawing lines for an hour, I can print a few sheets out on my printer once a month and get to work every week straight away!

This month's notebook featured a slightly older Illustrated Faith patterned paper cover, a cut file that took some finessing from svgfox's Easy store and Elle's Studio Letter & Number Stickers in Teal.

I put together a video talking through my approach. Due to a tactical error, the video slowly goes off center as you watch. This was because the tripod arm was moving and I didn't notice while I was talking! BUT, I don't think you lose much as the project stays fairly centered. I didn't not want to share this, despite its' flaws, because I felt like I explained my approach really well in it!

Here are a few stamp sets that were featured on the first page: Waffle Flower Calendar Stamp, Elle's Studio Stanley Alphabet-Solid. I used Studio Calico's Color Theory Flamingo ink pad to stamp the calendar and month each week.

Every week I've had so much fun putting together my weekly spreads. As I've been getting my bearings at my new job I haven't had time to share these. So I decided this would be a bullet journal weekend! Today, tomorrow and Sunday I'm planning to share a bullet journal project or video with you all.  Be sure to check back Saturday to see my Week of July 03 weekly spread!

"Dorset, England" Mini Album

Wednesday 19 July 2017
Supplies Used: 1canoe2 for American Crafts Creekside Collection--Patterned Paper: Gathering Flowers, Night Sky, Rings & Crosses, Wise Words, Up the Creek, ChicorySelf-Adhesive Enamel Shapes Crosses, Small Sticker Pack, Cardstock Stickers Accents & Phrases, Ephemera Cardstock Die-cuts with Gold Foil Accents, Rub-ons Gold Foil, Thickers Stickers Creek Alpha/Gold Foil over Navy Foam, Washi Tape, Rotary Stamp 12 Designs, Shimelle Little by Little—Stickers 8-Page Book Clear, Washi, Cardstock/Icon & Alpha
Oh man, I'm so excited about this project! I started a mini album of my England getaways back in 2011. The album I picked has four sections which are perfect for me to document my time in Dover, Dorset, Winchester and Canterbury. I completed the Dover section in 2011 [see pages here: Dover] and when I was tasked with creating using the new Creekside collection from 1canoe2 for American Crafts, I knew it'd be perfect to document my trip to Dorset!

So out this album came and I can't tell you how happy it made me to make some progress on it.
Also, I was just so excited to be scrapping this trip. I relieved so many happy memories while I was working on these pages. It's just one of the many reasons why I love scrapbooking so much! I wrote more about this project on the American Crafts blog. You can read about it here: Travel Album Using Creekside

"Christmas in July" Mini Layout

Tuesday 18 July 2017
My scrappy bestie Tracy Fox has dedicated her July to scrapping Christmas photos. I've loved seeing all of her creations (@scrappylikeafox) on Instagram so I decided to get in on the fun.

I was cleaning out a box of papers the other day and came across this gift card from last Christmas. It's a special thing for me to get gifts from my brother so naturally I saved the gift card and the envelope! I wanted to include both in my album so I put together a quick 6x8 layout with a fun non-traditional color scheme. There's very little to this layout but I love how it turned out!

"Grandma's Birthday" Card & Photo Gift

Saturday 15 July 2017
The 9th was my Grandma's 72nd birthday! As usual, I made her a birthday card. She lives in San Antonio so I have to mail her cards and gifts. This year I wanted to make her something small and photo focused to include in the envelope along with her card.
My Nana (nah-nah not na-nuh) loves to read. I must get it from her (and my own mama)! So I thought it'd be cute to send her a few bookmarks. And then I one-upped myself and decided to include tiny photo collages of her grandkids for the front (or back) of each one.
I used the Dear Lizzy's Saturday collection for the card, envelope and bookmarks. And I'm pretty sure I only used scraps that I had! None of these pieces are particularly big. The books marks are 5 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches. I dropped by Target and got some self-sealing laminating pouches so that these would be a bit more substantial.

"Chalkboard Globe" Home Decor

Thursday 13 July 2017
Supplies Used: 1canoe2 for American Crafts--Chalkboard Globe, Wanderlust Vinyl, Chalk Marker-White, Bear Hug Patterned Paper
Globes are my jam! And the 1cane2 for American Crafts globes are simply awesome. I bought every last one and they now live on the shelves in the living room. The latest release was a plain chalkboard globe that I was so excited to decorate from scratch. You can read more about it on the American Crafts Blog today: How-to: Creating a Wanderlust Globe

"Sleeping Cats" Scrapbook Layout

Monday 10 July 2017
Let Sleeping Cats Lie Supplies Used: Elle's Studio July 2017 Monthly Kit, Summer Puffy Stickers,  Little Acrylic Stars, Stanley Alphabet Stamp-Outline, Stanley Alphabet Stamp-Solid, Title Builder Alphabet Stamp
Oh my Izzy (full name Islington)! How I love him so! There's just something so adorable about a sleeping cat. And my cat loves to sleep in the oddest positions. I love that he's totally comfortable at home with us!

This page started with the title. I thought it would be fun to play on the old adage "let sleeping dogs lie". I just substituted the species. I used the new Stanley Alphabet Stamps (Solid & Outline) plus the blocky Title Builder Alpha to create the title. I love the mix of fonts, sizes and colors!
I used a collection of Izzy sleeping photos to tell this story. I have so many that I had to whittle it down to just my favorites. Because they had so many different colors and hues, I decided to covert them all to black and white.

When I sat down to make this page, I knew I wanted to create a central design. I wasn't sure how busy I wanted the background to be and was considering a patterned paper. But eventually opted for this mustard yellow color. I loved it paired with the light and dark blue plus the gray, black and white!
To embellish, I cut up two of the journaling tags in the July 2017 monthly kit. They both featured star designs. I glued these around the page and then for added dimension, added puffy stars and dots and an acrylic star or two.
